I had an issue a few weeks ago with my sump and po4 which ended with me shutting it down and shop vaccuming the whole thing out that was the source of my problem.

Do you run a deep sand bed that could be holding detritus or maybe buildup behind rock work from not enough circulation. Feeding every other day holy cow ,if I feed twice a week they are lucky but I don't have a heavily stocked tank

About 5" above water level. Mixed reef sps grows well lps also no real complaints other than some initial controller problems warrantee replaced 3 times. My plating montipora grows like wildfire

Also I had previously kept about 40 pounds of live rock in the sump just to have on hand ,but felt that it was also just trapping detritus. I removed all the rock shop vac the whole sump out " there goes my pods" keeping it bare bottom. But now I'm dealing with this damn brown algae on my sand...
