i had an old cut up sponge from another ac filter. gave the filter a good warm water wash. running it now.

im going to steal the small ac from my FW tank upstairs until i can get another one. I found new carbon still in a box from fluval. I think ill rinse the sponge and put the new carbon in and see what happens....thoughts?

Alright so you think the aquaclear with the carbon in it would be okay to run now?

If I use the ac filter...can i use the media it comes with?

hmmmm. dont know if i have a spare hob. would a small ac filter work? I wasnt planning on running a filter at all...do u think i should? I thought the sand and rock would be enough? How long should it take to clear?

Update....I went to trop today. Got 20lbs of sand, 15g of saltwater, 5g of fresh, a bottle of cycle, a heater, and almost 5lbs of branch rock. Heres the tank now. I have a korilia one in there now...stiill cloudy. Also was it weird that i didnt empty two of the 5g buckets to fill the tank? The...

Yea and there is a gap between the bottom of the tank in the middle and the wood. When I saw that I wasn't happy. I figured it would be worth it to post it. You are my main contributor and I appreciate it. When I was here years ago there was a lot more people reaching out. Things change I guess...

Thanks for both replies! I did end up getting the aquaticlife t5ho 4 bulbs...I feel more.confident with this one because of all the reviews and comments. Plus the reflectors on this one are a lot better than the oddysea...plus the aquatic has fans and an easy set timer. I just feel a lot better...

Now I think Im finally going to go with Aquatic Life Light T5 HO 4-Lamp 2-Lunar Aquarium Light, 20-Inch. For the money its an excellent fixture...plus it has a led display timer. Im sold. For $224 on amazon im good to go.
