I recommend ADHI sumps ... Aquatic Obsessions has them and puts them on alot of their installs.
The only other sump I would get if I didn't get an ADHI would be a custom sump.
Could just be a diatom out break... new tanks get them and older tanks get them from time to time.
Post your water perameters and a picture would definitely help.
Nice, you should have alot of fun with that size tank.
Sam makes a good point. Unless you have check valves on those I would raise them up. But even check valves fail so I would raise them anyway.
Good luck with the tank and keep the pictures coming.
I'm ok with taking a little risk. I bet on sports all the time and I figure instead of losing $500 here and there I can put it in the market.
My boss is buying a stock called REFR .. they make tinted windows with the push of a button. RESEARCH FRONTIERS Inc.
http://www.refr-spd.com/ .. In...
I'm trying to get into the stock market because a friend of mine is a daytrader and keeps telling me I have to get involved. To boot, my boss is always talking about stocks, so tonight I opened a TDameritrade acount.
I was just wondering if anyone on here is market savy or into the market.
I was reading CORAL magazine and the owner of the reef tank that was featured says he uses a mixture of 3 different brands of salt (he didn't say which ones) to balance out the inconsistancies with each one.
With that in mind I might start mixing ReefCrystals, CoralPro by RedSea, and Tropic...
If you're close to central jersey, Aquatic Obsessions has them .. you should call him though because as soon as they come in they are gone within a day or two.
Ok ... the cup design thing helps alot. Makes everything clearer.
The water I was using to test my CA reactor was from a water change last week. I ment to do the test last week but didn't get around to doing it and the PH dropped because it was just sitting there.
Good news is the test is done...
You have a ton of great ideas in your set up.
Thanks again for the diagram. I keep looking at it and it's really amazing. One day i'll get down there to see it in person but until then i'll just admire the drawing.
Using Reef Crystals and have no issues. I've been thinking about switching but the cliche... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" keeps popping into my head.
Diatoms feed off Silica so if I don't clean my glass and sand often it takes over my tank. Also the fine sand never seems to settle and is always floating in my tank. When ever a fish swims close to the bottom they kick up more sand. I'm in the process of taking it out a little at a time.
I don't have a flow meter. But I'll get one somewhere. I know the CO2 is plugged into the ACjr but is the CA reactor pump plugged in as well or does it run continuously?
Also where is your PH probe on your system that turns on the CO2? I know it goes in the effluent but where does your effluent...
John I was just going over this thread and I had to stop and admire your diagram. I wanted to ask you a couple questoins.
What is in the Stock tank that needs 400w MHs?
And, is the Carbon in the sump connected to the Calcium Reactor or just sitting in the sump?
