Home Depot and Lowes for Reefers

My kids think I work there.... 'course it seems I spend more there than I earn at work - just went yesterday for some mur-loc fittings and some lunchtime browsing - I managed to hit both HD and Lowes

new **used** MP40 - wetside magnet CRACKED

If anyone's in this situation I highly recommend trying this before you buy new wetsides. I opened mine and they shipped back brand new for $50 (magnet price) each. Good deal IMO since I was spending $80 each to buy new

new **used** MP40 - wetside magnet CRACKED

Just for an update - I contacted EcoTech and told them that I had Gen1 wetsides and missed out on the upgrade kits that were available a few years ago. I said that I had never registered them (the guy I got them from had not) and I was told if I shipped the wetsides back to them they would...

    Dave’s 90g learning-curve glass room experiment

Yep it bothered me that it's not sg. Always referencing the conversion chart - especially with the hypo. At least I know when it's back on the DT just keep it at 53=1.0259. Not sure anyone needs that degree of specificity.

    Dave’s 90g learning-curve glass room experiment

Thanks Paul. It's actually Salinity mS not PPM. It's the weird scale Pinpoint uses for their monitor. Here's the chhttp://www.americanmarineusa.com/salinityconversion.htmlart if your curious.

    Dave’s 90g learning-curve glass room experiment

I'm using the seaweed sheets (Omega One, I think- not nori from the Asian market. I know that now for the future) and just the pressed fresh garlic. Filter is a bio-wheel HOB and the cartridges have some carbon. The only meda thus far are the Melafix. 2 days so far on that. Salinity is up to 37...

    Dave’s 90g learning-curve glass room experiment

I've read that garlic should be added. How do you soak the nori? It falls apart as soon as it's wet. I've just crushed a garlic clove in a press and dropped that in. Everyone goes nuts but with the limited filtration in the QT the whole basement smells like an Italian restaurant. Just need to...

    Dave’s 90g learning-curve glass room experiment

An update to my ongoing QT/fish rescue... Salinity has been on the upswing since last weekend. (following 4 weeks at 1.009) and is now at ~1.016) so I'm a little more than half way there. PWCs in the 30g QT are performed every other day removing ~5g and replacing with 3g from my DT and 2g of...

    Hair Algae creeping up again

understandable... - of course they're already converted to SW... isn't that enough to entice you to spend close to $20 bucks in gas for a pair of $2 fish? Anyway, they'll be in my sump in a couple weeks so if you change your mind or if there's someone near me heading up for a meeting - the...

    Hair Algae creeping up again

I have 4 mollies and I may be looking to re-home 2 if you're interested. They're in my QT now in hypo. End of Oct they'll be good to go. 8-10+ weeks clean.

    Anemone needs to move

actually, it was your lights I was after (although I do love a clam shucked fresh out of the water) sorry to the OP - this highjack has gone in an odd direction

    Anemone needs to move

I think if that guy Brett from Tanked is involved I'm gonna have to back out, sorry, I LOVE seafood - shellfish especially but I just can't stand the sound of his voice

Keyboard Replacement - Giving Myself an At-A-Boy

slightly off topic but I shattered the back glass on my iPhone and freaked out b/c a new one was not an option (before I opened it up I had no clue what was integrated to what and therefore how much damage I had done) - well $12 and literally under a minute and it was fixed - apparently other...

    micro bubble battle

Well, truth is, since the design was kind of getting ripped I decided to keep the genius behind it secret – I didn’t think under the circumstances it would come off as complimentary but rather an invitation for a defense. Then again, there’s always implementation and who’s to say I didn’t...

    Anemone needs to move

do you have room in your tank for a 260 lb guy? b/c that spread sounds yummy to me. I promise to earn my keep contributing to the CUC duties and if you'd consider adding lobster to the menu I could learn some tricks for added entertainment

    micro bubble battle

when you say smooth lined tubing, are you talking about hose? If it’s flexible (i.e., hose) how do you get the leverage to close off the ball valves when you’re doing maintenance? And how do you keep things “in-place”? Maybe I’m too OCD for hoses that could move around. I’m not sure I see why...

    micro bubble battle

So can I put some gum on it to keep the air from coming in? :) I don't think I can move the pump body without adding more 90s but I can extend the intake away from that side. Land yes I got too fancy with the return design but it seemed good in theory. Hindsight is 20/20. I wouldn't do it again...

    micro bubble battle

hey George - thanks for weighing in in terms of the severe waterfall - could be that water leaving my refugium is causing some issue. It just worked out that the intake is closer to that side of my return section and I didn't to baffles on that side - I gess either way the water still travels...
