Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I mean anything is possible but smashing mantis shrimp eat crustaceans and gastropods. The clicking you were hearing is the Mantis making its burrow in the rock. A tiny Mantis shrimp wouldn't devour a McCosker and a firefish in one night. Put a peice of shrimp on a skewer in front of the area...
So random question. Why wouldn't you want the Mantis? They are pretty darn cool. It is very likely a smasher. The spearers live in the sand bed and wouldn't be in the rock. Chances are very likely you either have one of these two guys. Unless you have small tridacnid clams I would just let...
You can spend a week at my place. I have 5 aquariums. 2 are SPS dominated tanks. 1 is a skunk clownfish mom/dad anemome tank, 1 is the clownfish baby lagoon with RBTA's, and the 5th is an Acro Dominated mantis tank. It houses a pseudosquilla ciliata.
They are just a pod. Same as a white, black, red, bug. You can syringe one up and look at it under a microscope. Dr. Knafo should know that it doesn't impact clams. The drug works by shutting down their nervous system. Clams have no nervous system. You can search on reef2reef. Zero issues...
That's a bad idea. The bugs are in your tank and treating the euphyllia outside won't rid then from your display. The bugs will not just die off like flatworms. You are going to have to treat the display. Fortunately interceptor has no impact on clams. Not even at 10× the standard redbug...
Go rent yourself a par meter and see what's going on. All I can tell you is nitrates are not your issue. If you had a starving acro it would be pale and washed out but still have PE. Those frags may not like the flow/light where they are. Also sometimes they take sometime to settle in. This...
Try dropping your light intensity a bit. Put it in an acclimation mode for like 2 weeks. Also check your alk for swings. Test once in the morning and again at night.
So for live rotifers absolutely fish has them. You can also order from reef nutrition. Rotifers are just part of the equation. You are likely going to need about 1 or 2 gallons of live phyto to keep your fry tank looking like.pea soup.
Can't eye test par levels and if your nitrates are 5 it's not a phosphate issue. I bet you either got pests or it's a light issue and the corals need time to acclimate. It can take months for an acro to settle in.
