JR please don't take this as a negative comment towards you in anyway, but eshopps sumps are way over rated. there is no way that tiny sump is rated for a tank 225-300 gallons. that's horrible! for the money you might as well spend it on a custom sump. i paid 350 for my sump that's 44"x16"x16"...

Both sides seems like it would work. I gravity fed a refugium into my sump on my 120 before. However I had split my drains into 2. You don't want your water to rush right through the fuge. A calm flow is essential.
By the way you explain it, I can easily tell you will agree with my choice- Option 1!! Benefit for 2- you can get the 200 faster. However you lose out on having a larger frag tank. Benefit for 3-you could use the 120 as a sump for the 200.
