My pics suck pretty hard but I kicked off the coral collection the other day.
Mist that know me will know that I really like Monti's. So that's what I started with.
All doing well but I need to pick up some epoxy to get them in place. For now the are hanging out on the bed.

The numbers look solid. I wouldn't dwell to much on the Nitrate and Phosphate, nothing wrong there at all. What I was getting at with the alk is not so much it being high, But the fluctuations that occurred during the dial in. 8.9 is not high at all, but I saw where you mentioned it was 7.5...
I always thought tip down recession was a cause of alk burn.
I had similar problems a while back when I added a calcium reactor. While there were slight fluctuations in alk. Once I got it rock solid it was fine. That was until I added media a few months later, and all bets were off.

Various sizes as you can see. The bigger pieces are probably around 15-20lbs each.
They are easily broken down if smaller is desired.
Probably 70-80lbs here

Right now my drain terminates just below waterline. I have one a little deeper by about 3-4" and still had same problem. For the time being, I will add a little more to bring it down again. It's a 12" deep section so I have a bit of room to go.
