Good points guys. I don't believe anyone was trying to start an argument with the OP. If the science is there to believe then I believe it. But I do have 1 question... Is ALL white egg crate made the same way? Is it possible some companies make it differently maybe?? I'm just curious at this point.
I agree with you. Not a lot of people are open minded but it is what it is. If people have had egg crate in their tanks for a long time with no I'll effects than awesome for them. Maybe its a combination of things? Who knows. I'd be interested in seeing a side by side tank test as well.
Yeah I mean, I don't see any.algae or anything like that hanging on it so Im not a believer. But my po4 has been going up lately. Probably do to taking GFO offline and going with biopellets
I too have a white egg crate skimmer stand. I have heard that white leeches phosphates causing algae and what not. Now that I think about it, my po4 is pretty high as well. Guess I'll be getting black and testing that theory.
I'll try my API kit first and see what happens, doubt they'll work any better but who knows. Is Salifert any good? I use Salifert for nitrates and its pretty good
I'm in a similar situation, well kinda. I'm running a ReefBreeders Photon48 over my 150 and my corners r shaded. Was looking into Kessils maybe for each side but not sure if I should just sell my current setup and go all new. Problem is, there are sooo many different lights to choose from! And...
I've been using Reef Crystals for as long as I've been in the hobby and never had any problems with it. I also bought a bucket at first and now I just buy the 200g boxes and mix the bags in the bucket. Never had a problem..
Nitrates are always between 5-10 but closer to 5. Phosphates are as high as 0.22ppm but I don't know how accurate my Hanna checker is. Maybe ill try my API kit and see what that says
Okay I googled my own answer on the biopellets spinning. Still looking for some advice on my phosphates and amount of BP in my reactor if someone could please help
That's what I figured. Maybe I will pick one up, they're cheap enough and I have 2-3 home depot buckets already Lol its a PITA to siphon out from the sump, so slowww
Wait so this is used to just suck up water? I could use this for taking water out of the tank but not for putting back in. Plus I have a 5/8" hose I use for siphoning water out just fine. That, however, would be really good for cleaning a sump.
