Heya J! Not sure what I'm looking at with the pic, but the brown/orange stuff in the low left of the photo certainly looks like diatomes. Depending on the age of the tank they;re a normal and expected occurrence.

If the tube is longish and about the diameter of a pencil lead, there are multiple short arms (1/4 to 3/4 inch) that are thin and fanlike, its probably a tube worm.
