I did this with acrylic and threaded nylon rods and nuts. I got the rods and nuts from McMaster Carr. I imagine it would work with eggcrate also, or just use acrylic.

Looks like a colonista snail to me. I have tons of them they come out at night do their job and hide during the day. And they multiply like crazy.

Mike, I've had a couple of questions posed to me that I think you can better answer. First pertains to the water. These colonies will be coming in with only a limited amount of water, right? Will you be acclimating them prior to fragging? What water will be used for transport to our homes...

Yep thats all you would need. the problem would be finding something that would not break the bank, unless your going for a longterm use.
