Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
For the card-carrying members only, before I post it on MR. Have this fish for 2 years. It never got sick also I have not added any fish for 3 months.
Please take him only if you have a 6' tank. If it's a 4' tank then he must be the only larger fish in the tank. I love this fish but he does...
I like it. I use the pulse mode, which runs the pump 10 seconds (adjustable) then stop it for 10 seconds. This gives the corals a strong wave then give it time to rest. The problem is I can only run 60%. The rimless-ness of the tank makes splashing too easy.
Have:

The copperband must be having a blast with this. I want to try this in the summer. Are you concerned about pollution or any disease might be introduced?
Time for an update. Removed some rocks to give it a more open look. Sorry for the super blue look. Can't find WB control on iPhone.

I found knowing the absolute values of lighting makes little difference unless you already have a very stable thriving system. Corals are quite adaptive. I have SSC in two different spots one at about 300 par the other 800 par and it does equally well. Once you reach that stable stage you can...
Driveway heat is easy to find. Mag flake is not. There is a guy on ebay selling it but he's asking $48 for 20lbs.
A quick calculation using BRS Mg Sulfate + Mg Chloride. It costs $1.5 to raise Mg by 200ppm for 20g of water.
Mixing the salts: $4 for IO and $5 for RC for 20g. So mixing 50/50...
I current use IO and very happy with the performance in general and the parameters are quite stable from batch to batch. I use a 29 gal tank to mix and it usually last two weeks with about 5g left in the mixing tank then I fill up the tank and mix the next batch.
IO has the following...
What happens if you use a skimmer that's too large for the system? Will it stop skimming or just skim too much? Or hard to dial in properly?
Thinking about upgrading but quite confused about the hundreds of skimmers out there.
For Example:
RO Elite 200INT:
- 400 Gallon – Light Filtration...
Herbie is great and very easy to setup. use one of the overflow for that. one return is enough for this size tank and the plumbing is less complicated. you can use the remaining hole as another emergency drain. avoid putting the sump under the tank if you can. much easier to work with outside of...
Don't control the PH. It's a result of many factors including the co2 concentration in the atmosphere. I use it purely as a reference. If it changes too much I try to identify the cause.
