Go for it I always have a mixture. Also never added shells for them. I did have a population of snails if they got to big they just found the right snail and you know.

Edwin has a massive bio load, big fish and a lot of them. They poop a whole lot. We just piled a whole bunch of corals into his tank to eat up some of that nutrient. And given the right conditions his tank is going to explode and become a unbelievable tank

I remember you saying you were running one. Is a commercial unit or is it a diy?

If you can wait bleach/water it all in a brute for a couple weeks with a circulation pump. Then vinigar/water for a week or two rinse for a couple days changeing water daily and your rock will be in great shape. Pumps will not stop any pests.

Are you going to do all of the rock work before you fill it? I find it to be so much easier to stack and epoxy dry then fill the tank. The rock just seems to be more secure.
