Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You could also use the skimmer as an aerator also. Just turn it up so that it overflows and just let it drain back. You will get far mor aeration through that then the air stones.
The thin foam rubber disk that is glued to the dry side is supposed to be there. There is a second disk that is probably 1/8" thick, and shiny black.
Added: when I looked back at the pic that does look like it. Maybe previous owner glued it in place.
Paul, there should have been a rubber disk that came with the MP-10. That is the spacer you use when the glass is under a certian thickness. At this point between the thickness of the glass and the 1/4" pad you are using you might just be at or above the upper limit on thickness. Just keep an...
I think it goes a bit farther then that. Some dry rock has not been cleaned and does in fact still have organic matter on it. There are others out there that are cleaned and can in fact be added to the system without worrying about throwing it into a cycle. Though it still need to be done in...
The koralia's are both magnet and suction cup. I like mine they have both been running for some time. Only problem I have is like above when you shut off the might turn back on in reverse. If you don't mind spending a bit more the Sicce Voyager powerheads are nice too.
In addition to Trop call hidden reef and fish factory. They will both out do each others price. Trop is a bit cheaper but gas/time from may make the places closer a better value.
In reading this over again. I should clear things up. When I said dead rock I meant dry rock as in rock that has not been alive. Like reefrocks, Marco, and BRS reef saver. This rock is for the most part clean there is nolife on the rock at all and it will not throw the tank into a cycle.
I would only add uncured rock after curing. Reefrocks is dead and perfectly clean. It can be added without curing again in small amounts. If it was/is live either cure or add in small amounts.
Josh, if you go with dead rock, like reefrocks you don't need to cure it and it doesn't leach. I still wouldn't add it all at once though. I also would not try this with other dead like Marco or BRS. I've heard both will leach.
Much smaller but a far better selection of fish and coral. Which doesn't say much. Im 15 min from both and I would go out of my way to go to AO and OG2
Gotta go up the street to fish factory for the ATI bulbs. You were probably pretty close to me. I was just at Jay's a few weeks ago to pick up a reef tech monti. He has a great tank.
As to the hidden reef they have actually gone down hill over the last year or so. They used to be better.
In the second configuration you ideally want the overflow split to supply the fuge not the return. That way you have "dirty" water going to the skimmer and the fuge then both into the return area.
My sump is the first config. I like it and with my skills didn't want to deal with splitting the...
