Carbon mesh bag to the media cup? Is that known to reduce nitrates ?

Howdy, I'm trying to figure out how to make my frag tank water more crystal clear and I believe it's my filtration method.. I use a filter media cup with 3 pieces of floss.. I feel like it's not enough. My water parameters are all in range however some serious detritus

I did a water change on my frag tank last night and siphoned this all off the white egg crate.

*gently* rip... take a razor blade and slowly cut away at the base. Use bone cutters or tile chippers to get as much plug away and than slice carefully. DON'T RIP

You could just cut the leg of the frag plug off and glue to the rock...

Fudge... I did spend over 200 at cherry corals tho so I am not that mad
