A good way with Zoas to tell how much light they like. Is as follows
if they tend to be fat and squatting they are getting to much light
if they are thin and long. As if they are reaching for the sky. They are not getting enough light.
@USMCReefer do you have a tank set up? I have lots more questions. But they all depend on how you answer this one LOL. Glad to have you here. Please feel free to ask every question that comes to mind. If ever there was a place to express your thoughts on reefing, this is it. And there are...
My apologies....I must remember you are a pinch newer to reefing than me. When I said if you see a change without the lights. I meant signs of death like melting or shrinking and a drastic loss of color. ALL corals “close up” when lights go out. That’s not what I am referring to...
Picture would be great. But based on this info. I am personally confident that it WILL survive with lights off and ambient room light. If you see a drastic change to the zoa after lights are off for an extended period than just use lights at a low par for less time than you would run a full...
What kind of Zoa. I ask because some can survive on way less light than you might think. (They May not grow, but will survive just fine for months). There is a tendency in this hobby for people to treat all things reef related like they are SPS and blasting them with way to much light. But...
I am new to this thread. But just read through it (very nice). As far as cleanup crew. I don’t personally add any until There is something for them to clean up like fish poop and food. Yes there are members of the CUC that just deal with algae. But that shouldn’t be a big deal as you shouldn’t...

I used my IPad and flipped the camera. Felt it worked very well. Participants could see my tank and not ME. But I could see everything everyone was posting. A simple press of the button bang zoom I’m in the picture if need be. I also found the camera on side with the display did not color...
I felt the first virtual meeting was a success. I can see this as a nice tool in the future. More people should check it out. And please people. Put your cameras on your tanks. Not your faces Hahahaha.
Sorry to hear about the nem. But sounds like you have it under control. I would add that yes you should do another water change. When Nems die the really let out a lot of bad stuff. And dilution is your best Freind. Best of luck Freind
Welcome Jamie S. We all look forward to your build and wish you the best of luck. This is a great place to get answers to the many questions you will have. They have certainly helped me on my travels thru this intricate hobby
