Gone a few days - feeding?

We generally will go a long weekend maybe, but that's really it (2-3 days). It can be done for five, but as Ed said above adding in an auto feeder will help tremendously. If you dont' want to, start feeding twice a day leading up to leaving to "fatten" them up a bit and go from there. If you...

What point is it Saltwater and not Brackish?

Question 1 on salinity: I would probably want to be at 1.026, however if you are not doing corals or inverts at all, you could probably get away with less. Fish stores generally keep fish at lower salinites for lengths of time with no issues. I still would want it at least over 1.02 but that...

Lob Stark's 20 gal Reef Tank

Welcome to the club and looks like you are off to a good start. We have run nanos (12 to 34g) for years so we have a little bit of experience with them. A couple of quick notes in random order: Look for a HOB skimmer. It will help keep your water cleaner much better than the Aqueon power...

    Mike's Dream Build

Hair algae on the sand is a bit much but it should go away. The good news is it is easy to vacuum out from there.

    blange3's 180 upgrade

Sounds like a great plan. We went with just one tang in our 205 and a bunch of anthias and wrasses. With the softies, you could generate a lot of movement and a really cool system

I have a blueline in my basement as well. Probably as reliable as a mag, but less wattage.

Can anyone in NNJ help me plumb my new tank this week?

Where are you located? If you cannot find a local reefer, give Ethan a call at Aquatic Obesessions. He is a plumbing wizard.

    t5 bulb combo

For my six bulb I run exactly what Kevin has. My eight bulb is pretty much the two bulbs he listed. He is correct, it is not that blue at all. Some people will even run straight blue plus bulbs on coral tanks but for fish, the purple plus really brings reds out.
