Getting there. Still going through a bit of a "cycle" but the snails are cleaning it right up. I would bet within a week or two we will be ready to start transferring frags up. None of the old algae is coming back at all and our phosphates and nitrates are staying really low. Should really...
These pics I actually just broke out the DSLR and took photos with that. These are raw, no editing at all (I really should get some software but I don't feel like I need the full Photoshop suite, maybe lightroom or something). The Naturereef is dialed in and is doing a great job. Our nitrates...
Pink goni, I completely forgot who I got it from. Gonzo corals has some great gonis and I think I got it from him or one of the ore Colorado boys out at macna.
As we said things are a lot better. Display is still cycling through the algae but it is already going away. A half dozen topcrown snails will do that, but it is not coming back where they hoover it up. Seriously, if you have some lingering algae issues, top crowns are absolutely amazing at...
They are calling for 2-3 feet here on the coast with very high winds which has me the most worried. Picked up some more d batteries today for the air bubblers, going to get gas and oil for the generator tomorrow.
I actually bought miller lite to have around the house because I am trying to lose some weight before our Aruba trip. However, I was at Monks a few weeks ago for Nikki's birthday and yesterday was the beer bourbon and bbq event in NYC so I was able to taste the following beers:
Pliny the Elder...
Also chiming in, mine took a little time to get setup but that was again user error. Now it is running how it is supposed to and I am also at close to zero nitrates and phosphates. I do water changes now mostly to siphon detritus out and clean up some things. Very happy overall with it and I...
I ran a 30g cube with one mp10 and the return whichever as more than enough. Hold out a little but if you can, with the new smaller gyre coming out you could have a choice and ,oat likely vortech will drop the price.
Chocolate chip stars are the popular choice or just return it to the LFS.
Kev I agree that high flow is important to zoas as well. Zoas seem to be a coral that there are a lot of "myths" about that just keep going year after year.
Kev where those first ones from Trop? I got a frag from them too.
Zoas can live and thrive in a variety of water conditions. Lots of zoas are found right around SPS so to say they are low nutrient or even low light is not true for all of them. In fact they have been found in 800-1000 PAR...
I was also told tanks left outside it can damage the silicon. I believe there is something you can put over the silicon to keep it from hardening. A space heater turned on near the tank on cold night might be enough.
