Any time the bio load of the skimmer changes. It is going to increase production. Giving it a vinegar bath with strip it’s slime coat and will be like starting over so I wouldn’t touch it. The best thing you can do is run the skimmer on the dry side. It will still fractionate the proteins...
It’s ju
st a round plastic box with a few cone shaped holes. You put some rubble in it so it dosent float and a piece of shrimp as bait At night they crawl in. In the morning just take the box out. Pop open the lid and walls. Worms gone
The filament is sold by weight not length but if I a had to guess I’d say it’s about 500 feet on a spool and that cost 20 bucks. It only takes about 50 feet to produce an item the size of a scrubber
When I put my first Urchin in. What a mess. Moved everything I have since glued stuff down and left a few “toys” for the little fella. Seems to have really helped. And he does eat coraline but no where near the rate my tank produces it
Yea those tiny ones are a joke. Only way I found to deal with what’s available is to put the little guys in the sump or Refugium for six months and let grow. Also a good place to let them practice eating aiptaisia
Nothing to say but beautiful work. Simply spectacular. Hope you host a club get together this year (after PANDEMIC-2020) would love to see it in person and pick your brain.
Just found a 3D printable alge scrubber on tinkerverse it will take a few days to print. But I’ll let you know if it works. May be a free solution or a piece of junk. Ya never know with these things.
Doesn’t Cualerpa go sexual and spread like a weed? I love your idea of root control but the ability to spread sexually Has kept it off my list of useable macro algae’s. Keep me updated on your success or at least however it goes.
Well once again I differ from the masses. I went with hermits/snails. And hatted them. Yes hermits are interesting. Fascinating intact. But they destroyed my snail population. And even kill each other. All of which adds to unwanted nutrients in the water and a need to buy more of them. For me it...
Not working (kidneys and Pandemic). I’m still on the wrong side of sick. So not exactly crushing projects out. But have been having a heck of a time playing with a 3D printer. So far I have made the following.
MP-40 anemone guards
Bristle worm traps
wall mount for my pinpoint ph controller
egg...
My experience with aptaisia-X was a little different. I found it absolutely killed what I put it on. However. In some cases. I failed and did not manage to completely cover the bugger every time. When that happens they make babies. Lots of babies! Also you just can’t get to all of them. To...
Along with the main tank we also have what is mostly a softie tank. Having no wrasse in it to help control the pest population in it, Last night I decided to print a worm trap. And I’ll be darned if the bugger didn’t work. If anyone needs one just let me know. (Of course Free).
Thanks Todd. I am definitely doing better. Also. Not sure if you got my message. The glass you have is definitely NOT tempered and CAN be cut. I managed to cut it the other day.
