    When you do water changes, what is your exact routine? I like to blast my rocks with a turkey baster. Let the detritus settle and siphon up as much as I can. You have to manually remove the HA.     Skimmer Cleaning

    Every 2-3 days I dump the collection cup and clean the cup/neck.

    It's definitely pulling out skimmate. The bubbles in the neck right under the collection cup are still large though. I talked to Jeremy from coralvue and he said it may take 4-5 weeks to break in and skim at optimum performance. I'm happy with the skimmate it is pulling now.

    Water changes

    I don't think you can do too many gallons on a water change. Personally I do about 5 gallons a week(about 10%), just enough to siphon up as much detritus as possible.

    How old is the tank? What equipment are you running? Skimmers, reactors, etc. What does your maintenance routine look like? If your NO3 and PO4 tests show undetectable, it's because they are bound up in the algae.
