Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Thanks, Twan.
If I had it to do over again, though, I never would have bought him. I had 2 cleaners I had to give up because he's just...well, he's just hungry, I guess.
Wow. You're really taking your time with this endevour. I think I started my first tank around the time you started building this, and now I've already broken down that tank and have my second tank thriving...
Not an insult, by any means...you just must be one patient guy!
2 timers for me:
1 for fan and actinic, coming on 20 mins before
10k on the other one, turning off 20 mins before actinic
LEDs plugged in full time. Those things last like 20k hours or something silly, I believe.
Right now from about 1100 to 1300. I'm trying to work it up, but think I'm going to slow down a bit.
I've gotta tell ya, those crazy Dutch make a confusing test kit.
You bet. The next few days I'll be keeping a close eye on those three params...and probably on nitrates as well. If the hair does die, I hear it releases back whatever nutrients it'd been eating into the water column.
Have 10 gallons ro/di saltwater from eagle reefs standing by if necessary.
:)
I bought a magnesium test and some tech m today. I'm going to see if it does anything for me. I started @ 1300 today, so we'll see what it does if i get it up...
:)
Xenia is one of those myserious weeds, like marijuana. ;D
Seriously, I keep reading how some people have great success, and some people don't. How it pumps for some, and not for others. That nobody knows for sure why it pumps. That sometimes it does great for a long time, and then just dies...
If it were me, I'd try to entice it with a small piece of silverside, or whatever fish food you might have in your freezer. Just thaw a little tiny piece out and present it with your fingers or favorite utensil.
Mynd,
I'm sure that the water I initially used was nutrient rich, and that started the problem. Well, not sure, but reasonably sure.
Now, since I've such a small tank, I decided to just start buying my water, pre-salted, from Eagle Reef in Hillsborough. I will try and test some change water...
Hey Mynd,
Thanks for the reply.
As for history:
I had a 55g and somehow got ich. Most of my fish ended up dead, but with Carlo's QT method, I managed to save my lil 1 inch pair of percs. While they were in QT, I decided I'd get a few more fishies, so I bought 3 chromies and that little pygmy...
