Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Everything dead! Because of the buffering capability of the saltwater, it could never ever get that low, short of someone dumping large volumes of strong acids into your tank. I can't see a tank getting below 7.5, and that's under the worst condition of very high CO2 levels.....the high CO2...
One thing with pH probes that a bunch of people don't realize is that they can not be totally submerged. If you have been keeping it submerged, it's toast.
If not, the first thing I'd do is soak it in vinegar overnight. Then rinse it off and recalibrate with pH 7 and pH 10 buffers. See if...
Darn, I just looked up the 50 ml/min pump and it looks exactly like the 1.1 pumps. Is it the same pump, but just turns faster? If it is the same, the hose should work. Interestingly the BRS site has the 1.1 tubing show up on the 50 pump post as an accessory.
How long does it last? I...
I'm not sure how bad your algae problem was, but for me it was replacing one algae for another. I'm guessing the die-off caused nitrates and phosphates to spike causing this new light yellow/ green algae to take over. I'm carbon dosing like crazy to try to control this.
A couple things:
1. They don't look like red to me.....they look green.
2. Also, how big is the mother......I've got a hunch these are Cribrinopsis crasse, a small green anemone from the Mediterranean, that never gets bigger than a half dollar....and splits like crazy.
3. This forum is for...
Ice, the only color we see in your photo is BLUE. You need to white balance your pictures so that the color differences can be seen. This can be done pre or post photo.
Otherwise, I'd suggest you check out Coralpedia Zoanthid Library HERE.
Tubing has arrived!
It is slightly lighter in color than the original and also feels a little stiffer than original (new on top, old on the bottom).
That could very well be the wear on the original, making it feel softer. A piece of tubing was cut to exactly 5 1/8 inches. Collars were...
Jeff, a picture or more detailed description of how you have it set up will help. I am assuming from comments that it's an AIO tank, but how are the lines set up leaving the back chamber and going to the UV, and where do they return? Pictures / diagrams / descriptions would help.
Wow! She's already is in bed, but my wife is a teacher, and she was just there with her class, maybe two weeks ago. So this has got to be recent. I'll ask her tomorrow, and if anything new I'll post.
If this is the same company that had a show when we had our Frag Swap this past year, I know the couple folks who first went to the Reef and Reptile show stated that it was poorly attended (I think Bob was one of these folks). They also hold this a couple times a year, so my thought is that...
I guess I've forgot to update...sorry.
I though I had a hair algae problem, but some told me because what I had was brached, it's actually a type of bryopsis. I'm still not convinced, but ordered up the fluconazole to give it a shot. Here's some of the stuff I had in a dish with some water...
You are a forum member...... and that's free.
If you pay a yearly membership fee of (I think) $12 for a single, it opens up additional forums, including a sales forum.
Have to agree with Joe (@horseplay ).....anemones are for established tanks....at least a year old. At this point just keep an eye on it and feed it occasionally. If large enough, silversides, if not, mysis will do/
The second pump I had, the tubing was just fine, so the pump is in!
I simply used the vodka bottle as the DIY NOPOX reservoir. And FYI, I believe this is Art's formula of 375 mls vodka, 125 RO/DI water and 500 mls of vinegar. I know others use a DIY formula of 1 part vodka to 2 parts...
Bob, if the hose fits, you're welcome to how many feet you want. However, the 1.6 ml dosing pump from BRS (Drew's Doser), appears to take a different hose. Here's that hose:
The common failure to peristaltic pumps are stripping of the gears. I haven't opened up any of these pumps, but I'm...
Between my son and I, we own six BRS 1.1 ml dosing pumps....great pumps. I also love BRS....spend more money there than I want to. Now I recently needed to replace two dosing pump rubber hoses. BRS has them for $12.99 each.
I come from the chemical industry where we used rubber hose...
