Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
First off welcome to NJRC.
Please note that tank water does note carry much bacteria. It's the rock and sand where you'll find the necessary bacteria. I'd keep an eye on ammonia, because that tank is going to cycle.
Just shoveled the back porch....about five inches. Past couple of hours it's been a sleet / frozen rain. Also pretty windy....and according to the news, will get worse through noon.
I like the simplicity of this idea. No need to spend money and purchase spam-ware. How many new "real" members do we get in a day or week versus how many new spammers join to post about their crap? Board members or moderators have to be on top of this spam cleaning a couple times a...
@ice28720 that link you are trying to go to is for special committee members only (and board members). You can comment and post in this thread, but that other one is for committee people only. The five members on that committee are listed above in post #11.
Wait until you get a snow storm or ice storm.....not a single snow/ice truck, so you're house bound until it melts. Most storms it warms the following day and melts, but I can remember one winter we were stuck in the house for three days. A local contractor had his road grader out there...
I commented over in the "Sales Thread Open...." post. To briefly repeat, keep the committee forum for committee folks only.....so they can comment on how great an idea I had with Sales threads open for all to see.:biggrin: If and when the committee wants more input, then post...
Tristan, glade to see you're still kicking.
Nice looking house and well thought out plans for your rebuild.
Now you need to change your location under your avatar from Trenton to Podunk, NC. If I knew you were looking for a house, I could have sold you mine located in West End, NC....sold...
Here are three links to DIY temperature controllers:
HOW TO: Build an aquarium heater controller - For $25!
DIY temperature controller - ITC 1000
How to Make a DIY Aquarium Temperature Controller
All very similar....all very simple to do with minimal skill.
My opinion......all heaters need to be attached to a controller. It saves you from the "stuck ON" failure of the heater. And all heaters will fail. If you don't have an overall tank controller, than consider something like a Ranco to control the heaters. And for you James, a DIY should...

Originally had two MP40's in my five foot 90DT.
Went to @HerbieK 's for the December NJRC meeting and counted 12 powerheads in his tank.
Watched Dane Riddles talk from MACNA 2016 where he talked about the importance of flow.
I now have four MP40's and an MP10 in...
