    Tanking Sitting in Storage??

The only sure way to know is to test the tank. Drop the tank off at my house and I'll test it for you......note, my testing might take ten years or so..:cool: Steve, you should be fine.

Tiger tail sea cucumber just nuked in powerhead (1/2 of it!)

I recently went through this with a red and black cucumber (in a 90 gallon DT). I lost four fish.....no corals. As suggested, run carbon and make water for a water change. Your large volume will certainly help.

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

Both are forms of carbon dosing (feeding bacteria), but the difference I liked over biopellets is that it only fed the bacteria in the reactor....which when sloughed, ideally got picked up by your skimmer. With liquid carbon dosing (vinegar/vodka), you are feeding any and all bacteria in your...

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

I am constantly amazed at the new things I learn about my tank.....equipment, maintenance, live stock, etc. I started running biopellets in June of 2013....a JNS Alpha 2 Biopellet Reactor. Here it is right after I set it up: Being a man, I never read the manual....just set it up, filled it...

    GFO Reactor or Skimmer?

I'd go with the skimmer. Even though it's not the best way to run GFO, you could always throw it in a media bag and dump it somewhere.

    1200-1500 gallon tank on Craigslist

Hold on one minute..........Something doesn't add up??? The dimensions are listed as 84 by 84 by 36.....with four sides 72 inches and four sides 36 inches. I went to do some quick calculations assuming the tank looked like this: I got the smallest length at 123 inches??? Am I missing...

Do you have a controller for your heaters?

I will preface my comment with the fact that I know as much about electronics as I do brain surgery. On aquarium controllers, the outlets typically have a max draw, and in the case of my Reefkeeper, it's 6 amps (and not to exceed 15 amps for the entire bar). With a Ranco or DIY controller, it...

Do you have a controller for your heaters?

Marcus, don't be fooled by what you see on the face......if you pop the hatch, it looks like someone dumped a bunch of spaghetti down there.

Do you have a controller for your heaters?

With a Ranco or DIY controller, this isn't an issue. However, with an Aquarium controller....and in my case that's a ReefKeeper....I purposely run and "expansion sock" just for my heaters. This eliminates any excessive draw on the power bar, which might not be able to handle it. So if...

Do you have a controller for your heaters?

I wouldn't set them all the way up, but a degree or two above your desired temperature.

Do you have a controller for your heaters?

You MUST use a controller for your heaters because all heaters will eventually fail, and the dangerous failure is "stuck on". If all you wish to control are heaters, a Ranco is a good choice....and if you're handy, you can simply DIY one as well. EDIT TO ADD: HERE is one example of a DIY...
