Welcome @David to NJRC! I'd suggest starting a Tale of the Tank thread to document your tank. What's great about starting this thread is going back after a period of time and seeing all the changes that have occurred with your tank. Again, welcome.
Skimmate Container Float Switches Finished
The last piece arrived today.....wall transformer....and the float switch cutoff was put back into service for the skimmate container. It amazed me how lazy I've become with all the automation on the tank. For the last month I had to empty my...
Finishing it Up
The wall transformer arrived today and this was the last piece needed to finish up this little DIY. The positive side of the 12v transformer was attached to terminal #8 on the relay, and the negative was wire nutted to the remaining float switch wire.
Unexpectedly, this...
Paul, while you were at changing out the shut-off, you should have put in a frost-proof sill cock. Even though code still requires a shut-off in the house, these "new" sill cocks don't freeze because the actual valve is in your house........and the remaining part drains out.......never...
@Mark_C , thanks for the reassurance with all that black. I had a similar concern about the amount of black eye shadow I had on when my wife and I were on the cover of Weekender in 2009......I'm guessing that looks fine as well?
Thanks for the compliment Mark. I'm running two...
Skimmate Container Float Switches
With the skimmer pump shorting out and cooking the old float switch in the skimmate container, a new float switch and relay were installed. I documented this DIY HERE. The new float switch has a secondary backup, unlike the original.
ATO Reservoir...
Kevin, I have no idea what I'm doing.....seat of the pants electronics for me!
I just so happen to look up the specific spec sheet on the relay I'm using.......HERE.
To repeat my first post, I don't know electronics, and was told that polarity doesn't matter with the relay....positive and...
I think you're confusing activated carbon (the black little pellets) with the carbon found in vodka/vinegar/sugar that's used to feed bacteria. Activated carbon is for taking organic impurities out of the water. It contributes nothing in the way of carbon, and the feeding of bacteria...
Hit another brick wall today....I have a shoe box of power supplies (wall warts), and would have sworn I had a 12 v in the box.....to run the relay coil. No luck! So I just ordered one and hopefully it will be here in 3 to 4 days. Another $2.95 spent, for those keeping count.
However, I...
I think I responded to your post on R2R???
Anyway, you don't want to use BRS's calculator (sorry Mike), because B-Ionic is at a different concentration then BRS's stuff. Use THIS calculator and pick the two part you use.
Assuming this is for glass, I have two bits.....a 46 mm for 1 inch bulkheads, and a 62 mm for 1 1/2 inch bulkheads. I also have the drill guides that not only guide the bit, but also hold the water to keep the bit cool.
