Our meetings are more of a gathering of local reefers. Some will set up trades, some will bring frags to give away and we usually always have a raffle. I agree with this. If you break it down the di canister on a 100 gpd unit is only processing 4 gallons per hour. You're trying to push too much through. You can either try gravity feeding or maybe a pump like a toms aqualifter or similar diaphragm pump.

You can also try a matted file fish. They are known aptasia eaters as well. Pretty cool looking fish too.

Definitely strange. I don't really know why but I have seen similar where cyano would grow in the sump and fuge but none at all in the display.

Try feeding the tank a little food after the lights have gone out for a little while. Marine betas are nocturnal fish and are more active when the lights are dim or out.
