I was gonna do the same thing. Get a large tank or tub and let aiptasia run wild. Then get some berghia to breed and supply locals with them cheaper than online. BUT they kept dwindling on their own. Guess you need to have them next to expensive corals to do well.

COuld you try getting a piece of pvc or tubing so the water at least passes over it in a flow?
So calcium 450, Magnesium 1350, but oa day later and ALK drops from 9.0 to 8.4. prior to correcting my Magnesium from 1100 to 1350 I was only dropping 0.1ALK a day.
Does that make sense?
Would the higher magnesium and correct calcium make all consumption by the corals that much easier to consume...
FUNNY thing is my brother in law had a tank up since 1998.

I know my Alk has been at 9 since early December with usually 10ml or so daily doising, and necessary adjustments when I was doing my water changes.
The calcium didnt seem to be moving at all. so didnt dose Calcium.

Guy has low filtration, lights basically in tip of the water, new tank obviously and a big jar of reef roids for his 2 spec corals he wants to instantly resemble a seasoned tank.

My new pistol and diamond goby were doing so well. Peas in a pod. I did some late tank stuff last night and heard a wired sound but was late so didn't follow up on it. I guess having my hands in the tank freaked the diamond goby. He jumped. Looking back I guess the sound was him hitting the wall...
