Once again I need your help.
I have lots of bubbles showing up in the display tank. Below is the image of my fuge & sump:
There are at least three potential areas were bubbles are getting created. First in the fuge where the water enters (circled in the picture). I am not sure if these...
Somewhere I read that the most stupid question is the one that is not asked. So here we go:
Should I cycle a fuge before introducing it to the system? When I added a new sump I assumed since it is really a big water change, I made sure the salinity & temperature matched that of the display...
I finally (once again) hooked up the display tank to the basement sump. No leaks to be found which was a big relief. I ran the pump for about an hour last night and it kicked up a wind storm in my display tank. Apparently there is lots of flow coming to the tank. I thought I'll turn off the pump...
I want to buy sand, some live and some non-live for my refugium. What is the cheapest sand that I can get? Has anyone tried the sand that they sell in Ebay for a buck or two shipped?
I hooked up the display tank to the basement sump and ran the pump briefly. I got tonnes of micro bubbles in the display tank. I also noticed leaks in two spots in the plumbing. One was near the pump where I had put some teflon tape earlier. The other one was by the thread near the flexible...
Hi all,
I need your learned opinion on building a diy refugium. I am thinking of using a Rubbermaid 20-25 gallon tub for this purpose. The refugium is going to be hooked into my basement sump, by drawing water from the overflow and throw water into the Sump return area. My display tank is a 72...
Changing 20% of water twice a month is usually recommended, but how often do you really do it?
I am planning to automate the process, so pl. help me decide.
I am moving my sump to the basement. The outlet from the sump is 3/4". The pump that I have is a GenX 70hp. This has an inlet of 1" and outlet of 3/4".
Is it okay to put a converter between sump and the pump to cut down the size? Will it affect the performance of the pump?
I am planning to buy clear cell cast acrylic from mcmaster.com based on a suggestion by a fellow reefer. A 1/4" acrylic sized 48"X24" costs $87 from this website. I am planning to build a sump and is this the material should I use?
Your input is appreciated.
Thanks.
I have ordered a sea cucumber from Reeftopia which advertises them as 'a good kind'. I have been browsing some articles that describe horror stories about having a cucumber in a home aquarium. Has anyone bought a sea cucumber from reeftopia? Could you share your insight on cucumber generally...
