I'm not 2 parting, just kalkwasser. I'm running a stirrer between the ato and sump.
It works well and is incredibly easy to use. I test 1x per week and if the alk drops below 7.5 I drop 1/2 cup of kw into the stirrer.
Evaporation rate doesn't seem to be a major factor as the most fluctuation i...
Ive had this thing up for about 2 years now. I think I did 2 or 3 water changes at the start but hasennt seen a WC in probably 18 months now.

Thanks for asking D. All seems well. She's still a bit tired after minimal activity, but fevers are gone and cough diminished considerably.
Just concerned over going out over next week or two as we're hitting infection apex.

Simple Sump V2 in testing.
And! I just realized I can literally take a pic for posting!
For the past many years I’ve been downloading to my computer, processing, and uploading.

An FYI on silicone.
Check the expiration. Apparently the hardening portion loses its ability over time.
36 hours after making the sump I went to test it and the silicone hadn’t hardened in the least.
Had to break entire thing down and uncured silicone is nearly impossible to remove from acrylic.
Female is on top of a frag, tail in air, scratching abdomen.
Every few seconds a very small thing, about the size of a copepod detaches.
Are these live births?
I'm in no position to start a nursery, but if raising them is simple enough I may drop her in isolation if I can catch her.

I did this on a previous tank and it worked incredibly well.
Just needed a scraped up piece of plastic mounted in the sump near a light source.

I also did an upflow that I'll look for the links for.
If you're worried about a spike, I wouldn't sweat it.
I've done both bare bottom and sand. I prefer sand, looks nice, give the animals something to play in, etc...
I've always used special grade reef, aragonite based. I put it in a 5g bucket, fill it halfway with tap water, stir the c$%^ out of...
Mushrooms are pretty easy, mild to moderate light and flow, same with most zoanthids (which I'm a huge fan of).
They can handle fluctuating water conditions fairly well and can even grow in water that is slightly off (dirty, high parameters, etc).
Most soft corals, including leathers, are very...
