Welcome to the Wonderful World of Saltwater Fish!! Sounds like you are going in the right direction!!
Do you know if the LR was already cured when you added it to your tank?? Ifso, you may not cycle.
Are you running your lights right now?? That's what could be causing the algae.
The little...
Let me know!! Good luck with the trap....from what I hear they don't work very well LOL.
Still the best way would probably be to take out the rock it is in...I know it's a PITA, I've been there and put it in a bucket of high SG water...It should come running out.
I know how that is LOL!!! I'd try getting a look at it at night. I'd say its nocturnal...make sure all the lights are off...including lights in the room. Then if you can get some red plastic, use it on a flashlight about 1-2 hours after all the lights are out and see if you can see it.
Plus...
My suggestion is do your best to get the rock out and drop it in a bucket of saltwater at an SG of 1.035. Whatever it is, it should come running out of the rock and you won't completely kill the rock this way.
If you need help...let me know.
I have an AGA 180 that has a cracked bottom trim that I am looking to sell. $300 OBO.
The tank still holds water, although I'm not sure how long the trim will hold. It would be a great tank for reptiles!!
Very interesting topic indeed.
Dave...in regards to your question about zooanthellae. I believe zooanthellae uses a different light spectrum than nusiance algae.
In Taz's post....that is very interested. It is believed that Cyano feeds off of light, but I don't think new bulbs will cause the...
I guess I have no life....LOL!! Really just the perks of working from home!!
Well since you are going to keep corals, that knocks your list down to no angels or butterfly's.
You have any certain show piece fish you defintely want to try and keep??
I have some algae....very little. What I hope to attain with vodka dosing is a very low nutrient system. It has been shown through resarch that vodka dosing also increases coral coloration and increases coral growth. This is what I look to achieve.
It will also allow me to be able to feed the...
I'm thinking about experimenting with Vodka dosing. My phosphates read 0 with my Salifert kit, but we all know that isn't very reliable.
Is there anyone that has a Phosphate Photometer they would be willing to loan out? Maybe even a Nitrate Photometer too?
I'd like to really start this and log...
So have you raised clownfish before?? Mine spawn all the time....I've thought about trying to raise the fry, but then turned away, because what do I do with all these fish once they grow?
