Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Great turnout, good to see everyone.
Herb,
Thanks for the hospitality from you and your family.
Great spread, great party, and a christmas tank. What more could one want?
I'm happy that Sunny vetted and approved me for SPS as the two pieces look fantastic in the tank. Thanks for your generosity.
I had a biocube skimmer in my IM25.
It worked OK, just not enough for my bio-load (4 fish, heavy SPS and softies), and I had a severe algae outbreak.
I picked up a used ghost on ebay for $90 and between the skimmer and weekly 5-10g changes, all coming under control.
The ghost skimmer is a beast...
Russ,
I keep my setup simple and the Reefkeeper light is fine.
I use 2 heaters, each with their manual controls set at 80 (so if the Reefkeeper fails they wont overheat the tank).
Both heaters are in channel 1 + 2 of the RKL and I have the RKL set to maintain 78 degrees. It hardly ever...
Anyone ever notice a propagation difference?
Most zoas I've bought have been frags, assumed tank grown.
Recently purchased 2 interesting medium colonies (50-80 polyps), dripping seawater, ocean picked.
Inspecting tank today and their polyps are taking hold in at least 4 places on rock. 2 polyps...
Paul, we had a number of Central and South Jersey meets earlier in the year.
At the turn of the year, volunteers are asked to host. Theres usually 1 or 2 in the Brick/Point Pleasant area, and one or two a bit further southwest I think.
There is also the option of hosting a meet next year...
I just traded out a large rock covered with GSP.
Now, as always in life, something I gave away recently is needed.
I'm going to hold onto this life jacket, spare tire, fire extinguisher, and parachute.
I dont know anything about this, so I'll offer an opinion.
Solid black is the hot wire.
White, is the neutral ('return'). If you do not have a solid white wire, and your hot wire is solid black, your neutral should be black with a white line.
Bare copper is always the ground. It will always...
Agreed, zoas would be cool.
Was tinkering with GSP on floor, pulsing xenia on back, mushrooms on center column, a few small zoa colonies placed on individual rocks.
Now the option of freshwater has come into play.
Researching dwarf puffers.
Anyone have any experience.
IM 10g, upgraded pump, Skkye light, aqua gadget stream, protein skimmer, live rock, etc.
Planned on selling this for $100, no takers, and refuse to let it go for less (though its stil available until I fill it).
SO! If I don't sell it and fill it...
Drop me your thoughts please. Any...
Thanks for the responses guys.
As you can tell, as the article was in the 'Share and Learn section' I went over a few RODI basics in case someone reading this for the first time was new to the RODI area.
My problem wasn't changing the DI media, which I changed on a regular basis as soon as it...
Zoas tend to get into a funk with the approaching winter, the earlier evenings with DST, and general stress regarding the holidays.
Perhaps you can throw an impromptu party - play music, turn on weather and lightning effects, and provide the tank with beer and Doritos?
For the past 6 months I had been battling a low level but increasing algae concern. I made the assumption that it was due to leeching from some of my rock.
Was making my own water with an RODI unit. I used a standard setup which includes a carbon filter, micro membrane, and de-ionizing unit...
