Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I've got my 90 in the kitchen, which is directly above my basement. I installed it near the wall so its close to a main support beam (and the base of the wall) and made sure it rested evenly across the cross support beams (running perpindicular to the wall and under the kitchen floor). No...
Decided to do some new, semi-complex aquascaping in the new pico tank.
Have a few pieces of rock that are too small to acid bath but have old/dead organics on them (algae and such).
I've never used used dry rock and I'm unsure if any type of algae 'spores' and could survive.
Is it worth running...
Tang nibbles on the odd algae but I've never seen him hit a coral, been keeping a dubious eye on him lately. Don't think he's the problem.
Not to mention the arms on the surviving head are seemingly beginning to atrophy.
Did a dip in Revive.
Took a shot while it was in there.
Visual inspection didn't reveal anything that looked like it might be Brown Jelly,
but unsure if the pink/red things are around the rim are dangerous or just an incidental finding.
So I'm playing my favorite game, 'What the ^&$% is wrong with the tank today!', and today's contestant seems to be my torch coral.
Its a good size torch with 3 large heads.
Parameters are all good.
110 total system gallons.
Temp: 78.5
Salinity: 1.026
Alk: 7.3 dKH (going to increase by a couple...
Picked up a couple of MP40s, both generation 1. Neither in great condition.
I called Vortech today and explained the situation.
One unit was unsalvageable, but they were more than helpful in helping me rebuild the other to full current spec, including QD wet-side and controller, RF module, and...
School play day. 5yo son is a knight, hoping he will rebel on stage, attack the lead, and announce his taking over the play. Probably not. Regardless, won't make it, but appreciate your opening house to us. Enjoy!
90G here with a gyre 130.
I've got mine set on interval mode - 30 secs on, 30 secs off, 30 secs on, etc.
On the opposing side of the tank I have an MP10 on alternating reef mode.
Works fantastic, lot of low, great coral motion.
Hi Olivier,
Saw your other post and call for club donations. I'm sure I speak for many, if not all, in saying thanks for your generosity. I've got a bunch of mixed pods going atm and would be happy to send you a bottle (with some phytos to keep them going). I can load a few hundred but they will...
There's a lot more folks here with a lot more experience than me, but with so many losses so quickly and so close together the only things running through my head are:
A cycle,
Something was spilled into or mistakenly added to the tank,
A toxic invertebrate died (anem, cucumber),
or could a...
Thanks all,
1. Beer always helps. :)
2. Didn't build the stand, bought the wood to build it myself, but decided to buy one as I wanted it to look good.
3. I thought pipefish, especially as I raise pods, but they would quickly outgrow the tank. I like the looks of the jester goby, might pick...
With plague rampant in the house, I spent Saturday doing a bit of set-up.
Few more bits and pieces salvaged, plus just bought a new heater and pump. I plan on filling the Aqueon with some rubble, a sponge, and a small bag of Phosban.
Stand and tank in position...
Kitchen Aquascaping...
If i understand you right and the tank had only water in it and no livestock, i'd ditch the old water (and definitely dump the old sand if there is any) and start with new aragonite, add rock, add all new water, and start your cycle. Best to start from a fully clean slate.
