Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
One would imagine that a water change to drop that phosphate would be helpful. Especially if that climbed recently. Otherwise the light change does seem to be the culprit.
When I was back in MD water pressure was an acceptable 60-65PSI. Here in Jersey it dropped to a paltry 40-45PSI. My 150gpd RODI went from about 120 gpd to a sad 50gpd and I did nothing about it until last week when I ordered an aquatec 8800. It came in yesterday and now I am almost at a full...
I've never seen any hermit I have (scarlet, blue, zebra, and a red legged) show any interest for any softie or lps unless they are trying to steal food.
I had a fair amount of aptasia in my display for some time and tried hard to get rid of them with aptasia X and kalwasser but ultimately I got 3 peppermint shrimp and all the aptasia disappeared in a week. Then I had a ton of fun catching the shrimp and tossing them in the sump. That was a...
One of the things I've enjoyed in most has been reading these stories. I showed this one to my wife and she laughed all the way through until you got to sleeping beauty. She very outrageously said, "That's supposed to be Snow White not Sleeping Beauty! "
I target feed reef roids once a week. I turn off my power heads and decrease return pump flow for 15-30 mins so that the slime nets corals make aren't blasted off.
@hcker99 That sounds like a pretty legit explanation. Did not think about the light penetration impact. I'll definitely keep an eye for a similar response if I am in a similar situation again. Thanks!
@diana a Thanks! I'm a bit of a loner in general. If I'm not at work one can usual find me fishing on the beach, fishing on a river/lake or staring nonstop at fish tanks. With a little room in there for soccer and the wife. I'm far from the most talkative around groups of people but I feel good...
Thank you all for the kind welcome! I look forward to getting to know everyone, these club get togethers in the future, being able to absorb more information from all of you, and maybe even pass some on as well.
Hi reef people I'm Rodrigo or Rod as my wife's family calls me. I started keeping fish back in middle school when my dad surprised us all by bringing home a 55 gallon tank full of endlers. Mom was not happy but can't do anything about it when the kids are all in love with the tank. Almost 15...
It seems to me that a fire shrimp might be too big since with the antennas one would eventually be around half the length of the tank. I've seen small tanks with a goby/pistol shrimp pair that were pretty cool to watch as well as once I saw a 5 gallon with some pederson shrimp and a clown goby...
Two weekends ago I was doing my water change on my 16bowfront tank and decided to add a small bag of carbon (maybe 2 table spoons) since it struck me that the water seemed a bit yellow. By the next day the water was crystal clear and I left the carbon in being happy with my decision.
A couple...
