Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Definitely a nice offer (but a too agree). I would prefer a simpler approach to the sig line than one so flashy. Actually, the club has a need for some more graphic design work as well, so if you're interested in using your talents PM me!
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
I believe he is now saying that they ARE leaching PO4 into the tank at a slow but measured rate and it would take weeks soaking in vinegar to get rid of it all. There is (according to what I've read above) some acrylic version that doesn't have the PO4 issue?
Nope. I run a 65 without one and a small nano without one as well. You'll want to keep up with good sized water changes if you're going to keep anything challenging. With softies & LPS they're pretty tolerant of less than spectacular water quality so it isn't as much of an issue.
Most of the anthias that are being sold as Purple "Queen" anthias are actually purple anthias. A prettier, much less shy, easier to get feeding species (IME). The Purple Anthias have an orange racing stripe down the backs of the females. Very pretty. They're the ones the Red Sand has in their...
You just never know where conversations are going to go around here. Thanks for the catalyst. LOL!
Koralia 1 is useless.
Weekly water changes and LPS you might get away without a skimmer. SPS and you'll surely want a skimmer, carbon, PO4 removal, ...
Lighting is adequate.
There seems to be no ill effects on corals or fish. You only need to bump it up (not all at once, but in 100 steps) long enough to kill the outbreak. After that you can let it come back down naturally.
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
Very cool. So if fresh egg crate could cause the PO4 to precip out (which actually results in algae growth ON the eggcrate), could keeping a good supply of fresh egg crate (or some commercially available unbound hydrocarbons) reduce PO4 in the tank?
Inquiring...
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
We always get an algae bloom from fresh egg crate. If you want to avoid that you could "cure it" in a dark tank before using it in the prop. I'm shocked to hear that they don't leach PO4 based on this experience, but STC seems to have a great knowledge base on...
Steve is great. Just make sure you show up on Thursday because he can (and does) sell EVERYTHING as fast as he can get it in the store! (I was assuming that DeadCPU was north of AO).
We've purchased fish from SaltwaterFish & LiveAquaria. Both seem to be reliable healthy shippers. I do prefer to shop locally whenever possible though. The service outweighs the cost, in most cases. I have been very happy with our purchases from Aquatic Obsessions. We haven't shopped much north...
Pretty sure MikeM is going to be able to do THAT by himself!
Wish I could be on Picture Patrol, but SOMEONE has to get the kids in bed. Since I can't carry the tank on my back, that's going to be me. Hopefully someone will carry a camera 'round for it (I wanna see the inside of Mongoose's...
Just bear in mind that the solution is going to have a PH up around 14 when you create it, so be careful with it. Keep your hands out of it, don't pour any leftovers into the tank, yada yada.
The bus companies want to send you on a 50 person bus with two drivers that you need to provide lodging for with a price tag of 7000. We'll be driving ourselves! ;)
We'll be renting one (or two?) 12-passenger van to go down there (for as many as we get who are committed to going). We'll need to figure out how to keep count of the committed v. maybes to make sure that we're not booking transportation for folks who are not definitely planning on being in...
Thanks, guys!
If you figure out how to use the top down box, Mike, you'll have to give ME pointers. *shrug* I have no idea. I'm better through the glass.
