I recently upgraded. I moved 4 tanks into 1 (175 gallon waterbox) . I used 2 pieces of my old scape and bought a new scape and sand. I used Fritz turbostart and had zero issues with dieoff etc. I don't see a problem with your plan.

I hear the maxpect is a PAIN to setup - I'd go with the ai gyre as it's easer to setup and they basically license the patent to make the gyre.

I re-up every 4ish months.

Not that I've used them before but I purchase from Reef Cleaners. Prices and selection can't be beat.

I have one and it's well worth it. Anyone that says it's inaccurate doesn't have one. Plus to be fair even icp tests aren't fully accurate. Your looking for trends and doing 8 tests in 2 minutes is a no brainer. Especially if you have multiple tanks. Highly recommended - but very expensive.

You have to shoot in manual Kelvin mode with the white balance. Around 10 works for me. Oh and use a filter for your lens. I use the 85b Tiffen.
