Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
That may do it - just the additional flow will prevent the nutrients from accumulating in those dead spots driving the algae growth. with the stuff kicked up and about the algae spores will have less opportunity to settle on the spot to grow.
Also - with regards to the clean up crew, You...
As paul mentioned - the box trick is a good idea but you really don't know what will happen until the fish are interacting. For me it did not work.
I have a pair of breeding false percula (i think, they may be just a cross between true percs and false) clowns and thought maybe if I added...
There is nothing wrong with a high bioload tank. It just means more frequent water changes or an oversized skimmer to power it. Your trigger looks nice and fat - perhaps cut back on the amount of food that is being fed. In this hobby - most people have disaster because of over-feeding, you...
hey darren - that tank the fish is in appears to be either a frag tank or a bare bottom display. Is that ok to do with a wrasse? i thought they wanted a sandbed to sleep in? I think merv tried that once by putting small buckets of tupperware sand (since he wanted bare bottom, but also wrasses).
george - saw this on yahoo answers - and thought it will help now that you have decided on the canon t2i - to figure out lenses etc:
"No matter what you want to do, I'd suggest getting the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II. This lens runs around $120, and is the best quality lens you can buy. It is fantastic...
mine are laying again (still) - but rather than the back wall, they are laying on the back of some LR. I blame the new male - he doesn't realize how nice and smooth the back of the tank is. anyways the problem is that when they lay their eggs now I have no sight of them and no idea when they...
Oh I hear ya totally - they should be on the bottom tumbling. I was just thinking initially I wouldn't mind if they weren't down there. Have you seen the octopus design - it's kinda weird with the tube all the way down to the bottom and connected to the top - which means everytime i have to top...
floating actually may not be terrible for me since the reactor is designed with a long rod that goes to the bottom. I was thinking about it - if I add pellets to the bottom that rod will crush them and then get siphoned up. If they float then no worries. Rinsing them to get any crud off...
I see you mentioned the kalk reactor on standby...make sure you set up the kalk reactor correctly. Two people in the club already lost everything to a massive kalk overdose. I've never had a problem (knock on wood) but just saying. For me personally I don't dose anything except kalk/mag and...
Oops did i miss a step - should i go soak my pellets in rodi now? I was just going to put the saltwater in teh reactor and then dump the pellets in. Is that a no-no?
3/4" tubing arriving today via fedex commerical ground thanks Thatpetplace. I ordered it two days ago along with some other stuff for the free shipping special. I should get the reactor going tonight! yay!
