Coralife makes a decent skimmer that wont hurt your wallet, you can use it in sump or as a hang on, I'd recommend the 125 model.

John, I had the same problem when I was looking for a saddle for 2" pipe, Dover pools on rt9 has something similar to a saddle it looks like a hose clamp with a 1/4" fitting. I also have a drain saddle that is new for 2" pipe you can have.

They would be fine in a 10g or bigger tank, they should be kept in groups of 3 or more, they also need hiding places. John's really limited with that size tank.

Have you ever put a Guppy and a male beta in a small tank together? Every time I have seen and heard of this being done the beta rips apart the guppy. I don't think that would be good since this is a kids tank, last thing the child needs to see is a fish ripped apart. A platy or mollie would...

John don't get anything that has long colorful fin's like Fancy guppies, the beta will think it's another beta and attack, a small lemon tetra or snow tetra would be a good addition, just don't get a painted glass tetra.

I personaly never tried and not sure if I would. How does there livestock look? Do the fish look healthy? Do they have a problem with algae in their tanks (only if they don't run a UV)?

Yup :) plus the fact that some people think they are doing good by using RO/DI water it's good for salt bad for fresh.

Carlo, one problem going from salt to fresh is people tend to over do it with freshwater :) there is no need to go all technical and use high end equiptment (simple is best) I have had freshwater for 15yrs + I also used to bread guppies and mollies for local stores.

I like the ASM skimmers, they are basically the same design and can be moded for the rec and gate vale.

Phyl, yup it's that green in person actually greener and the color in the polyps stand out more also. From what I was told the main difference between the 2 is the coloration, shades of fall is a little duller than the PL more like a lime green, the one I have came from a guy in NY who got it...
