Hello all, As some of you know I got dealt the short straw and my live rock I purchased was LOADED with antipasta so I have to restart. I am not going with live rock again to avoid that from happening. I'd rather purchase from a reputable company / website rather a local LFS that maybe...

So I have ordered replacement sand and I will be going Tuesday night to purchase dry rock from a LFS.... let the cleanse begin.

I mean eventually it will grow collegen and all the good looking stuff... it's aptasia free that's for sure

Who vouches for BRS rock? I am not using a LFS as I don't trust them lol.... Or does anyone know a better website.

I know... I just got attached to it. I am sure I could find something even more cool. Do you think the LFS will take it back? Is that something that happens ? "Return Policy - All sales are final" sheeesh... guess I will be seeing if anyone wants to buy it :(

So I read this and believe it will work.. When it mentions it will take 6 months to become alive again will that mean it takes 6 months for my cycle to complete? Or just for live to form on the rock again? Seems like I would agree with the process just not sure I am willing to go through all...

It's inevitable that no matter which route I go I will end up having something.. This current instance I want to get rid of antipasta... will my current method eradicate them? Or is this bleach bath required.. I am getting so many different routes

If the rock completely dries out all of the antipasta die correct?

Would a light power wash help lol?

I like the rock I got so much that I think I am going to go through the headache of trying to nuke the rock... 3 days of drying maybe under a heat lamp. 4 days of vinegar water mix followed by extensive rinsing and another 3 days of drying.

What are the downsides to purchasing rock off Amazon? If any? Link to what you bought. please?

I'd need ~20 pounds. I used CaribSea Coarse sand - so I will go back with that. I will totally be doing that... Maybe it came from the sand who knows.. I may just buy dry rock. I would need to dig through a lot to find pieces like what I have. So you're saying fill the tank with a bucket...

I just love the way the coral look :( I have no problem breaking down the tank and leaving the rock out for several days to dry out and than vinegar bathing it a couple days. But you don't think that will kill it completely???? How would I clean the sand? Or are you saying just get new sand??

Thanks man.. I am happy that my tank isn't established. All I have in life is time so although it sucks and I won't have fish / coral in my tank for a while I'd rather it be done zero headaches so in 3 months I am not wondering why my coral are dying and massive antipasta outbreaks.

Do you think it's okay to put a shrimp in the tank ? I filled it Thursday. So it's barely began to cycle yet.

The live rock is just so cool looking.. and although I know I can find similar live rock without antipastas on it I feel like just nuking the rock is the best case. I just want to know if the sand / filter socks / hoses will be okay or does that have to get filtered / cleaned as well?

I would but the rock has so much character :( I just wish I was told it had antipastas.. I paid very good money with them knowingly selling me it loaded with ****. So I guess I'll be vinegar bathing it and adding bacteria. I worry about **** being in the sand tho

See the thing is I can confirm there are hundreds of little antipastas littered across the rock. They're all gonna grow ! It doesn't seem like I can add a peppermint shrimp yet so I'm feeling like just killing my rock and starting over.. which isn't at much
