Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
If you can't figure anything out, or the link Phyllis sent isn't an option for you I'd also suggest finding someone here who can babysit the tank for you... a 10g isn't to hard to move (not fun, but not as bad as coming home to a crashed tank)
Don't know where you are but I'm in Port Monmouth...
Thank you so much for the great replies, looks like I have some research to do. In truth all I really want running on each system (3 tanks, biggest being my new 70g) would probably be a powerhead, while I love my fish/corals I don't actually have anything worth all that much in real $ and I...
google the name and you'll see photos, this fish is AKA the orchid dottyback.
I don't know if there is any truth to this, but I remember being told awhile back when I was considering one that there was some sort of freeze on imports from wherever it is they come from so they would be harder to...
OMG Wendy my heart was pounding for you as I read the message... I would have completely lost it. I'm glad nothing in your tank was harmed (did you run extra carbon in case of suntan lotion etc?) As a mother of a 3yr old nothing gets under my skin more then parents who don't supervise their...
All the talk of blackouts in NYC and parts of NJ has me thinking, and scared! The best I have on hand are those battery powered air pumps and a stack of D batteries which thankfully since I'm a stay at home mom chances are I'd be able to toss in. Granted I don't know how fast they suck up...
Took Ali for our walk on the path at Sandy Hook today, I was walking along pushing the stroller and chatting with her about flowers/birds etc when I saw something jump on the ground... thought "cricket" and kept walking.... then I saw a TON of whatever was jumping, being deathly afraid of...
Yup very small, actually reminded me of a dice (about the same size/shape LOL)
Maybe someone else will chime in with a name, otherwise I can call tomorrow... just figured I was up (and my 3yr old finally wasn't LOL) so I could read about him.
I was at Trop today and of course I had to check out the fish. They had the most adorable little tiny spotted boxfish (whiteish, not yellow) that I've ever seen. I don't know much about them other then that they get way to big for what I have and can poision a tank. That said they are still one...
I agree it depends on the age/depth. The older and deeper it is the more I'd be concerned. If it's fairly shallow and looks mostly "clean" there likely isn't to much stuff trapped inside you need to worry about. If anything rinse it with fresh saltwater also as a precaution. If it is really deep...
In order to give the best advice we need to know details of your move.... are you moving close or far, driving/flying/etc.
I moved from MI to NJ in December... we drove straight through (12+ hours) in my attempt to get everything here alive. I made some mistakes, lost some fish & corals...
Hey Pete
I actually planned to use it, got the other sump drained and everything moved and... DARN, it wouldn't fit in the stand. It's a 70g oceanic tank/stand with no center brace on the stand but it was just a tad to big, I was unhappy to say the least!
So it's back in my garage, once again...
true true, I should have said live things I can see moving around ;) remember this was not live sand and the rock was DRIED rock from macrorocks. I'm going to put a few pieces of LR from my 50g into it tomorrow though since levels are low so hopefully some pods etc will survive the rest of the...
I sort of did the same thing, unintentionally.
I found a little red eyed crab in my nano, didn't have the heart to kill him and had a empty 3g eclipse tank laying around so I tossed in some sand, tank water, some LR rubble and him... then I got some cheato with a tank purchase but since I...
Don't know the specifics of your camera but see if it has a macro setting, other then that try to line up your shot, push the shutter button down 1/2 way to get the camera to focus and then snap your photo... so far they are a bit out of focus but look great :D
:D Skimmer was pulling lots of stuff, it's slowed down alot now. I really was surprised at how much stuff must have been in the rock, it looked super clean... then again it's so light and airy that I'm sure organics were inside I know numerous shells fell out as I was working with it. Works for...
Thanks Brian!
It's so hard to photograph LR, my structure is actually very 3D in that there are lots of ledges to place corals and different angles so that the light can get to the bottom. Plus I plan for this to be a very light reef, I was considering FOWLR but decided since I already have my...
I've been wanting to upgrade my 50g acrylic for ages, of course had to do it on a budget so I've been watching the forums and crossing my fingers. I really love the height of the Oceanic tanks and have a cherry finish 30g cube in the dining room already that I was hoping to match.
Few weeks ago...
Dave: I should probably swap those photos out since it's confusing to leave them.. I never ran the skimmer like that, I had it mocked up that way and asked opinions and was quickly told it wouldn't work... it's been insump since. The foam stuff was simply filling the whole sump (not just the...
