Vinegar is staple for cleaning calcium encrusted anything. However. Citric acid is now the go to cleaner if what you are cleaning is plastic and contains a magnet. (Like pumps, motors, frag holders etc.). Because vinegar can and will penetrate the plastic and swell the magnet. My understanding...
Iwaki 100RLT. It’s powerful and does the job but if I could do it all over again I would go two DC pumps for a little redundancy and I hate that If I want to throttle back the AC pump I have to use head pressure by restricting water flow with a valve. Makes pump work harder but with DC you can...
I see little by my eye to adding any red. And red can promote algae as it tends to run in the spectrum it likes. Unless YOU can see a visual advantage. I would avoid it. But these other fellas seem like they are pointing in the BEST direction. I’m just sharing antidotal visual opinion on my tank.
Sure it’s no help. But I found that the UV. Makes the greens really glow. But to be honest I don’t know how it effects growth either negatively or positively
To add to that. I presently have 9 tanks running all used. A few. Are as old as twenty plus years. To be perfectly clear I have resealed a few of them. But because they ever were leaking. Mostly just to freshen them up. Or because I was worried it may leak. But none ever have. The only thing...
Happy New Year to all. May the coming year give each of us 2020 vision as we try our Darnedest to improve and maintain our tanks. My new year resolution is to do my best to slow down. Keep tank changes small and trust not just what I test. But what I see. Happy Reefing to all. :victorious:
Second on fish hut. Since they had the flood and power issue a few months back and pretty much dumped there salt water section. They have seriously stepped it up. Tanks look clean and they have a huge selection. Simple call will let you know if they that beautiful fish
Trouble shooting. Or replacing. If your looking to borrow one I may have what you need. I’d be happy to lend it to you. I don’t know much about them but I have several and one or two with adjustable voltage knobs. I’m in Monmouth county
I have same setup. On 60” aquatic life with four kessils. Very nice corveage. If you have access to a par meter. You could light the tank with candles. (Wouldn’t that be fun hahaha). Now don’t get me started on flow.
Lol. As stated each time. Absolutely agree that’s why I use LED and said it cost more to run a T5 however Divide by four. Video showed every two years. Not twice a year. Tested not guessed. (Part of the reefing myth) point was never monthly cost. As much as how expensive a high end LED...
Just did math on changing 8 - 48 inch T5 bulbils. On a yearly schedule much more often then Necessary. And if I did that for 10 years. Cost is still less than just the cost to purchase 4 Kesils that sit on my tank (that I love) Two of the kessils failed in less than three months ( they did...
Understand what you are saying. Especially monthly cost. However respectfully Slightly disagree.
the spectrum on T5. Is by far the most tested and complete coverage of any man made light source. It’s lack of minimal shadowing is a plus plus. And the 6 month bulb change has been proven in the...
Drilled way better than over the top. However NOTHING is perfect. A blocked down pipe on drilled tank will cause same thing. That’s why bean animal is so popular. ALMOST prevents this type of disaster. At the very least it “should” allow even the laziest Of us ample opportunity to see the...
