Alkalinity might have shifter a bit- also the temp could have made the coral give up- i noticed a few of my corals are losing the tips- my pearlberry and some that im not sure what the name is and a few people cant find what it is either. I had a bottle brush and it just died off one day and...
They help by moving around in the sand but if you touch them they have little hairs that stick to your fingers and can cause a slight irritation- soaking it in vinegar burns away the hairs.
Could be the salt mix- make up a gallon of saltwater with your specific gravity and check the alkalinity. Also are you dosing anything like two part? Alk that high isnt a problem juts hopefully it doesnt rise and drop the calcium in the water.
I have a 55 gallon tank with some other things like hang on the back overflow and a wet dry filter that you can put rocks in instead of bio balls. Or you can find another tank that is pre drilled already. Im not sure if you can drill a smaller tank because the glass is thin. The drilled tanks...
There are a few setups you can go into. One would be a fowlr tank- this mean the pretty fish and some live rock for a filter. or you can go reef if you have the money to spend and time to care for it which is rock fish and corals. You can also just have a tank for fish with out the live rock but...
The aquariums there are awful, their coral tank couldn't support lps or sps when i was there, only nice things when i went there was that exotic animals. Id rather go and see other members reef tank's any day, i will never spend money to go thee again.I went during the winter and the employes...
Welcome to njrc Steve. What is in the 75 may i ask? I also have a 75 that once was a 55 and i moved everything into the 75. How deep is the sand bed in the tank? One thing that i would say is possible is to empty the water and fish in a big storage buckets or boxes that you can move to its new...
Hmm im out of ideas maybe alkalinity shifting or a ph shift, Possibly if you have been changing phosban after awhile of not changing it maybe it drooped phosphates to fast. Sorry im not an expert im surprised no one else has chimed in. I had a "green cap" well it was sold as a green cap but was...
I found a few 5x5 pieces of what looks to be favia coral or a brain coral from my grandparents basement, they are completely white and from what i remember that is what he took back from Hawaii when he fought at pearl harbor. The Skeletons are completely white and smooth, can i put them in my...
Id say changing alkalinity's could be causing it, Did the other elfo have its skin peal off? Also check for a monti eating nudibranch. I doubt thats the problem because the monti cap qould have been gone by then if it was them.
Was your alkalinity higher then dropped down to 7 because that would have caused it, changing alkalinity's take a tole on corals and usually end up int he coral loosing its tissue. Also is it just your monti caps that are looking different?
If you are remembering a crammed 75g then yes this is it, It was Jersey Wendy's mature sps tank, i picked it up from Wendy when she decided to upgrade hopefully i can get the tank looking almost as nice as when she had it.
I think you might have me mistaken for a different john, I wish it was crammed with some more sps but hah i can only dream, and let it grow till its crammed.
