Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I really wish I knew the answer to your question. I just wanted to let you know that I was sorry for your near disaster. Glad it was only a smokey house that your wife returned to. I can't believe the mangled mess that the power strip turned into. Yikes.
Is it possible that water got into it?
We only ever put in a leg at a time (as much as he could eat in a day or two). The legs don't bleed/ooze at all so there really wasn't a mess to worry about. I never noticed a spike, but I didn't look for one either! We were feeding him once every 2 weeks or so. In retrospect that wasn't often...
With all that blue you should have plenty of color. There are 3 reasons why corals lose their color. Too little light, too much light, or excess nutrients in the water. If you're measuring .1 maybe the corals are soaking up some PO4. Do you see a green tint to dead skeletins? That would point to...
Be careful about the 6.5 (I know, I know, too many opinions, lol). ARM requires a PH around 7 to prevent it from turning to mush. I keep mine between 6.8 and 7 with the ACII.
I think John knows where to get the needle valves. I'm sure he'll chime in.
I'll take any extra patience you happen to...
With all those wrasses I hope you have a good cover planned. They really are jumpers. It is just a matter of when. Our wrasses are all in a tightly covered tank.
NJRC is going to be attending the Manhattan Reefs Frag Swap as a vendor. We are accepting donations from members for swap items. If you have anything worth fragging that you could donate to the swap, please let us know! We'll make arrangements to get it from you.
NJRC appreciates anything you...
SPS=Smally Polyped Stoney corals. They can be amongst the hardest to keep. The easiest SPS to keep would be green or orange monteporas (caps or digitatas). Stay away from acros at first.
LPS=Large Polyped Stoney Corals. Things like brains, frogspawns, torches, ... Fleshy corals. Easier to care...
We had built our own Ca reactor with the club a bit over a year ago. We always struggled with getting/keeping it dialing in. Either it would slow the drip to nothing over time or the drip rate would be too fast. Very annoying. When the main chamber "exploded" John decided he'd had enough and we...
Alone? From what I've heard that's a No. RO/DI water has EVERYTHING removed from it. If you drink that is your only water source the water you get has no electrolytes and could upset your system's natural balance. RO water you could drink til the llamas come home. RO/DI you should limit your...
Have you recently changed salt brands, or just to RO/DI water? Is the source of the water the same (same tap, or were you buying water before)? Have you tested the output of your RO/DI for TDS or PO4? Mixed salt water (before it goes into your tank)? I'd also test both for Nitrates. Did you...
