Really no more room (or money LOL) for an external pump, so the one it came with will have to do (it fits fine in the return pump section). I also really don't want to modify the sump at all since it's a prefab acrylic.
My current plan is to make the first/inlet section into a fuge, the...
As long as you're toping off daily your salinity shouldn't be changing all that very much... just put a dot w/ a sharpie on your tank side or a line on your sump if you have one and you'll know where to keep it full to. As for the temp, granted it's a very argued thing sometimes, but I don't...
I think if I angle the sump, and leave the tank a couple inches from the wall I can actually fit the skimmer outside of it, that way I could make the large inlet into a refugium... just have to figure out how to plumb the skimmer back into sump using pvc (should it empty back into the refuge...
Got'cha, yes that section with the filter sock in the photo (mine doesnt' have one) is the "input" section and where the skimmer sits (takes up most of the section)... since the pump for the skimmer is sitting in the same section as the return pump that should work :)
I just purchased a used 70g Oceanic RR tank. It came with this skimmer, http://www.superskimmer.com/RD.htm: ETSS Red Devil and this sump: http://www.superskimmer.com/RD_Sump.htm
One of the main reasons I wanted a RR tank was to have a refug.. which obviously this sump doesn't allow (unless I...
The used 70g oceanic tank I'm getting is being delivered on Sunday (WOOHOO!!!) It's an upgrade for my 50g and since it's RR it will also run a sump/refug (something I haven't had on the 50g).
I think the next piece of equipment I'm going to save up for is an ATO... looking for something easy...
Is that the green one? I bought one from dfs that was garbage... not only did it not catch the scary monster worm in my tank (more in a second) but it didn't even catch the small ones.
I don't worry about the little guys at all as everyone says, however if your big one is anything like the one...
I want to make a screen for the 70g I'm getting this weekend, I know I could use eggcrate but want something with smaller openings that is less obtrusive to look at as well. I found this on RC http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1127093&highlight=cast+net I checked...
Thanks for the links guys, I'll check those out & see about Nikon's version.... really looking for an actual paper book though as my little one is less then thrilled with me being online and I'd like a book I can read in bed at night once she is down and to take to the beach or outside while she...
My new nikon d40 came today, I'm SOOO excited! However all I've ever had was point & shoot cameras and I have NO idea what anything means when it comes to photography... I know there are a million photography books out there so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good book to...
I'm pretty excited... ordered my camera today! Happy Birthday to me!
We ended up ordering the Nikon D40 w/ 18-55mm lens. It came down to two main reasons, 1) reading, reading, and more reading online (especially kenrockwell.com) & 2) price: Craig said it was either the d40 or no camera for now...
LOL @ the weirdo from the subway!
The 17mm works well in small spaces because it is nice and wide.
The closer to 2.8 the lens is the faster it will be. That helps a LOT in getting pics of fast moving children.
That's my number one reason for wanting the new camera, I have so many "that was...
Thank you for the response! Cost is a major player right now so I think we'll likely just go with the one 18-55mm lens right now and save up for the others as you suguested. Would you say the 18-55 is a "everyday" type lens? My husband wants to photograph urban type stuff, buildings in the city...

It's my b'day on Sunday and our 5th wedding anniversary on Monday, I've been wanting a DSLR camera for some time now (tired of trying to take photos of my fish to just have colorful blurs LOL )not that I'm sure it's in the budget but before I really start pushing for it I wanted to get the...
