You're right with reducing nutrients and water changes. Try to remove what you can during the water changes and also try increasing the flow in your tank.

Welcome to the club! I have no personal experience with cad lights but everything I hear about their customer service is very bad. Also many parts such as bulkheads for their tanks are not standard and can be hard to find of there's a problem

All great advice above. I would suggest having your tank sitter come over a few times before you leave. This way the can see and hear what the tank should look and sound like when running correctly. This gives them at least an idea so they can notice if something isn't quite right. Best of luck...
