TOO many softies in a SPS tank will be a problem though. For one thing, they tend to do better under dirtier water and two, the softies release something that is not good for sps. With the right balance of course you can still have a mixed reef, just a little harder from my understanding.

Mike is it possible that there is salt creep , something blocking the airflow or is the valve stuck closed? I took mine apart and ran vinegar through them and it helped until I realized one of the needle valves did not work when turned. If not, maybe the pump is week? Is that the pump you have...

I do run a sandbed Hawk, unfortunately my problem is a combo of problems at the moment including a lack of dosing, well water probs again, less maintenance, etc... I hope it will bounce back again when I hit it hard.

+1 my two are doing great also...They were the centerpiece of discussion to many visitors in my house and I proudly told all that they were tank raised by you! That always blew them away in amazement. Good work Phil!
