I just take a 6-8 inch plastic hose that fits on one end and take the strainer off. Attach a longer hose to a bucket like you do nothing tricky.

I modified a small maxijet to do the same thing all you need is plastic hose.

Know it is a bit late but your rockwork looks really good, the tank looks good overall.

I have had good success following those two tips to be honest. If you can find out before you buy the clam what light it was under it will help.
