    Great meeting!

The cement they were using at the meeting was thorite which I believe is not in production anymore or changed name. The also used a very similar product made by the same company called Waterplug. Merv actually liked the waterplug better. You can buy waterplug in Home Depot in the...

A lottle off topic, but I absolutely agree with you Hawkeye, My wife took a look at Premium aquatics site and asked me why our club would buy/trust a vendor that has such a poor outdated site. Tazmaniancowboy

    Fish kill

The candle theory is something I didn't think about...Being that I saw all of my father's fish die once form paint fumes, I could not help but to think that cooking a turkey(especially for so long) fills the house with an aroma(or fumes LOL) and as I was joking, I was a little serious being that...

    Bio-Magnet Clarifier

I put 200 pounds of the same sand in the tank and it foamed up before I put the clarifier in. What is that crap anyway...LOL. Directions say to mix with water(as I did) and all it looked like was water with a few brine shrimp floating in it! It took me 3 weeks to get rid of the "foam" rim. Taz

    Fish kill

Must be something in the atmosphere? My brother lost about 5 fish Christmas night and three more are looking bad. He also had these fish for 2 or 3 years. Nothing changed as far as tank params. I was joking with him and blamed it on his cooking of a turkey for Christmas, Tank is about 25 feet...

December 2008 POTM Contest (ID Request)

I had 2 of those when I started a few years ago. Haven't bought one since I started with corals. I never had a problem with them and the lived for quite a while, seemed hardy. I never see anyone posting about them, good or bad? Does anybody have any advice for or against them? Taz

    My new 90 gallon

Joe, you are right, there is nothing in the water to skim out. There is nothing live in there right? The sand should settle down a bit when you have bacteria in the tank. This has been my experience, however I do not know about that black sand. I assume it will be the same. I do not think that...

    Quick question

Joe, What I do to fill my tanks when I first build them is to fill the main tank right up to the teeth on the overflow. Then I fill the sump to the highest level that is possible or that I feel comfortable with. Then turn on the pump. The waterlevel in the sump will drop when it fills the tank...

    Quick question

Joe, I'm not a plumber, but if I were doing that setup I would have put the ball valve above the "T" That way you can throttle back the tank and the pressure is relieved by the "T" The other thing I would be concerned about is the check valve. I would not personally use one. I've heard that they...
