Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
It's been a little over two years since I built these skimmate containers, and I just wanted to update my experience with them. First off, I couldn't live without a container to collect skimmate. Now the good news.....I've found that the sight tubes on the sides (which are a pain to...
Freddy, I'm at a loss. Are these the pipes that originally were in this tank? Or could it be the final reducing coupling was on the original bulkheads? Isn't this a 55 gallon tank? I can't believe they would have an 1 1/2 drain on a 55 gallon tank.
Just make sure you are buying the fuel that is 100% methanol. Some RC fuels are nitromethane and also may contain oils. HERE is an example of a good RC fuel for your Natureef system.
EDIT TO ADD: Wow! HERE's a lifetime supply.
Yep. That link to Glass-Holes I gave you goes right to the 1 inch bulkheads and shows all four combinations. Also take note of the edit I added to my previous post. Good luck.
Not all bulkheads are the same. You have schedule 40 and schedule 80 and they require different size holes. If your hole is 1 3/4 inches (actually it's 45 mm), they take standard bulkheads....and that size bulkhead is for 1 inch pipe. Look at Glass-Holes for your bulkhead needs. If this...
You actually want to tight pack DI resin so you don't get flow passing the media.
What TDS meter do you have? If you have the in-line type, switch them around to make sure your down line reader isn't toast. Just a thought.....otherwise, I'm scratching my head.
I haven't read the articles, but what has me immediately scratching my head is that if a skimmer can, at best, only get out 30% of the crap, why have I also heard that you don't want to over skim and strip you tank. So if you get your tank down by 30% less, is it now stripped? And it also...
Although a bit fuzzy, it sure looks like a stomatella. Do a google search and compare the images there with what you have. You should be able to see a partial shell on its back.
I like that toothbrush - siphon thing. I've actually give thought on how to do something similar with a razor blade.
Here's another maintenance tip.....lubing your rubber to prolong its life. I have a pool in the backyard and have "lubed" the rubber parts for over 30 years with Leslies's...
Although I have a Reef Gadget on my MAG Float:
I like this little scrapper idea. I don't have extra mini blind parts, but I do have plastic hangers. I'm thinking of attaching the hanger part to a plastic scraper for HD. This way it's easy to replace the blade.
Thanks guys!
Wait.....aren't you fishless right now? There's no crap to clog up that sock. Wait until you get fish in there. You'll be cussing these socks as well. I have seven inch socks and sometimes I'll get a week out of them and other times, maybe three days.
