    Quiet around here!!

Kevin, I think this is an excellent idea. Also, Ed's comment was bringing up a major issue before you became a member. The open "For Sale" forum was a nightmare and impossible to moderate. Having lived through it as a moderator, I immediately saw the humor he was trying to add, but still...

"New" clownfish being released at macna 2015

I don't care for man fidging and manipulating genetics of any species. It's an abomination what they have done with the dog breeds. The inbreeding has created a veterinarian's cash cow, and dogs that suffer from multiple complications. Give me what nature made and I'm happy.

    Dan's 150 Rebuild

Cyanobacteria is photosynthetic. It needs light to produce energy. However, you're problem is nutrients. You need to reduce nutrients to eliminate the problem. All of us have experienced this new tank phenomena. Water changes and water changes and water changes to solve your problem.

    75gpd Filmtec RO membrane

James, I'm scratching my head on this one. I'm making (by calculation) 80 gpd from my 50 gpd membrane. The restrictor I'm currently running is a 550. According to BRS, this is the same restrictor I need for the 75 gpd membrane. So now I'm thinking I'll put in this new membrane and test...

    Grill Mat

So I'm not crazy about fish. I eat mild fish....cod, fluke, flounder, salmon....but nothing fishy, like blue fish. And please don't mention sushi....to me, it's chum...fish bait. Well I've found my new favorite marinate for salmon. I've now grilled it three times, and it's a winner (Even...

    Club fishing trip

Unless something has changed, you don't need a license for saltwater...but do need to register. This is for free, but still needs to be done up until the point the State decides is a revenue source. HERE is the link the talks about it.

    20 Nano in Maplewood

In the JBJ 28 I have, I used boiling RO/DI water. I usually use concentrated lemon or lime juice, but was concerned that the amount that I had to kill, I'd end up with a tank of lemon juice. So I went with boiling water. I simply put a coffee cup into the microwave and then used the turkey...

    Go calibrate your refractometer people!!

Two recommendations for refractometers: 1. Use 53mS solution to calibrate. Do not use RO/DI water. 2. Keep your hinges swinging freely. The "thickness" of the water on the plate face will impact the reading. What I do is squirt a little WD40 into a small glass and then use a toothpick...

    75gpd Filmtec RO membrane

I just purchased this from Ligershark today.....a day old 75gpd Filmtec RO membrane. When I purchased my RO unit back in 2008, I was told it was a 75 gpd unit. Considering I make 5 gallons in about 90 minutes, that calculates out to 80 gallons a day. Well, I pull my old membrane only to...

Crack in tank brace by overflow.

What I'd do is pick up some JB Weld (Walmart automotive area....about 5 or 6 bucks) and mix up some and fill the crack. I don't know if this epoxy would do much, except to make me feel like I did something. It's hard to tell from the picture with all that blue...but this is the edge...
