They're almost like tiny tube worms. They extend the stalks to feed. Had them in a coral heavy tank for years but they were never an issue. They'd always come out when i fed the corals.

Hallelujah! Just be sure with the RO buddy that you push the tubes into the connectors tightly. You should feel a second sort of sliding before it fully sets, then gently pull a bit and place ring washer on. I had a leak and the tube not being set correctly on set up was the cause.
