Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I would go with the 90g, they length and width are the same you just get four extra inches on top. This is good because you will be using most of the same equipment for both. As far as RR vs GH, I have both right now. My 57g rimless is RR and the overflow box is MASSIVE, takes up a lot of...
I would move an RODI unit to the top of your list. They are not that expensive and will save you tons of headaches. If you want that full reef tank with lots of corals, this is the most essential piece of equipment you can buy.
Hannah hand helds: The phosphate and the alk are good, don't get...
Getting two heaters is nice because you have redundancy so if one goes you at least have the other one in there.
As far as test kits go, I would be looking at salifert and elos, and if you can get them the hannah hand held checkers are really good too.
Hypo is great for treating ich but as...
There may have been some spots, I don't remember. That was from their display tank and those fish where not from sale. Considering it is a blue hippo tang, I would be surprised not to see ich on a new one in a newly setup tank.
This is going to be a full LFS which should be pretty cool. They have tanks setup for fish and inverts and sell the full lines of elos additives, foods, and test kits. Working on them as a sponsor as well.
I took some pics when I was there and just got around to uploading them. These are not the best pics, was just firing away.
Coral display tanks, there are 4 of these each like 400 gallons. These will be stocked with coral for sale and fish just for show.
This is there 200XL they have...
Welcome to the club and it is great you setup a tale of the tank. I read about your problems in your introduction and asking questions is the best way to learn. I have a couple questions for you:
1. What are the current fish in the tank?
2. Have you tested the water recently (nitrates...
Moorish idols have always been a tough fish to keep because of their diet. I agree with the pe mysis and I would also look for a fish food that contains a lot of sponge (there are frozen angel diets that have this).
You can look at the glassholes.com overflow boxes which are smaller so you can use two instead of one really long one.
Some people use external returns, some internal I think it is more of a prefrence thing. Externals put less heat in your tank if heat is an issue. Once you drill the tank for...
Water change to bring it down in the meantime. Acceptable alk range is 7-12 so it is high but if you bring it back down slowly you should be ok. Looks like you need to fine tune your Cal reactor.
